Overall Reflection

Since the advent of social media, the connection between people and those around them is no longer limited to face-to-face communication. Before I went to university, I communicated with my classmates, friends and family through QQ and shared my life in the qq zone; after I went to university, I started using WeChat and Weibo; when I arrived in Hong Kong I started using twitter and insgram . These social media provide us with a platform to share life and express opinions. And by “likes” and commenting on others, we can easily interact with friends.

I learned a lot in Social networking. First, during the blogging process, I learned a lot about United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. For the first time, I expressed my views on women ’s rights on social media and began to think about how I should help women fight for rights in the future. Secondly, in the process of interacting with others, I learned about others’ ideas and accepted some criticisms. Third, I completed some programming, and I started to analyze social media from a technical perspective.

In Program Assignments One, I conducted sentiment analysis of my blogs’ comments. The answer is obvious. Most of the comments I received were positive. This is because most of my comments are friends who have a good relationship with me, and they are willing to encourage me through positive comments.

In Program Assignments Two, through the analysis of the social matrix, we easily understood the distance between ourselves and our friends and quantified it.

In short, I am very grateful to the people who helped me in this course, including the professor, TA, and the students who interacted with me. I am very happy in this course!
